Bet On The UCL Quarter-Finals: Arsenal vs. Real Madrid & More

by Chike Nwoye

7 Apr 2025

We’re down to the last 8 in the Champions League and things are heating up! PSG, fresh off being crowned Ligue 1 champions, will welcome an in-form Aston Villa side to Paris. Over in Spain, it’s Barcelona vs. Dortmund under the lights at the Nou Camp, and in Germany, Bayern and Inter will renew hostilities in a rematch of the 2011 final.

But make we no lie, the tie everyone’s buzzing about is Arsenal vs. Real Madrid.

I, like many other football fans, have been counting down the days for this one! But first, let’s breakdown what to expect from this week’s game for our online betting community, but first here are our picks:

Arsenal vs. Real Madrid

Once you hit the quarter-finals of a competition as big as the Champions League, every matchup feels like a blockbuster. But there’s something a little extra spicy about this one. You’ve got two clubs with completely different UCL histories.

On one side, there’s Real Madrid—the kings of this competition—15-time winners and five-time champs in the last decade alone. And on the other side? Arsenal. No Champions League or even Europa League titles to their name.

But what Arsenal has is a squad that’s gone toe-to-toe with Europe’s best over the last two seasons, which makes this tie very interesting.

Let’s start with the good and bad news for the Gunners. The good; Bukayo Saka is finally back after a 3-month hamstring injury layoff. Before he got sidelined, he was on mad form—9 goals and 14 assists in 24 games, including 4 goals and 2 assists in just 5 UCL appearances. And he marked his return with a goal, which is exactly what Arsenal fans wanted to see.

The bad news? Gabriel is out for the rest of the season after pulling his hamstring in that same game. He’s been a rock in their defense and a real threat from set-pieces, bagging 5 goals and 3 assists. Arsenal fans were dreaming about the Saka-to-Gabriel connection from corners in this tie but their village people no gree for them.

Now, here’s a fun fact: Real Madrid have beaten more teams than anyone else in Champions League history—111 to be exact. However, Arsenal isn’t one of them.

The only time these two faced off was in the Round of 16 way back in 2006, when Thierry Henry danced through the Madrid back-line and knocked them out (1-0 on aggregate). Madrid will want to avoid a repeat, especially after losing at home to Valencia over the weekend—a slip-up that’s sure to hurt their LaLiga title defense.

I think they will bounce back to get a result, simply because they seem to save their best for this competition. After a shaky start to this campaign—losing 3 of their first 5 UCL games—they’ve now won seven straight. Technically, they lost their last match to Atletico 1-0 in regulation time, but won it on penalties… so that counts as a win, right? Right?

At the end of the day, Madrid just has too much individual brilliance to not go with them. Even when Carlo Ancelotti’s game plan looks a bit off, someone always steps up; Vinicius (7 goals, 2 assists), Mbappé (7 goals, 1 assist), Rodrygo (5 goals, 1 assist), and Bellingham (3 goals, 3 assists) have all delivered big moments this UCL campaign. As good as Arsenal have been—even with the injury setbacks—it’s hard not to give Madrid the slight edge over the two legs.

Key Stat: Arsenal hasn’t lost a home game in the Champions League under Mikel Arteta, winning 8 and drawing twice. However, Real Madrid hasn’t lost the first leg of any of their last 8 knockout ties in the UCL - their longest run in the competition.

Betting Tips:

Double Chance: Real Madrid Win or Draw @1.59

●  Over 1.5 Goals @1.36

●  Both Teams To Score @1.89

●  Real Madrid To Qualify @1.53

Bayern Munich vs. Inter

Harry Kane.jpg

Inter clearly had one eye on this clash over the weekend and it cost them. They were cruising with a 2-0 lead against relegation-threatened Parma at halftime, but ended up dropping points as the game finished 2-2. Napoli definitely won’t be complaining.

Thing is, when you’re heading to Munich, you need to be all in. Bayern at home in the Champions League are a beast—they haven’t lost in their last 22 home games in the competition with their last home loss coming back in 2021 against PSG.

They also just brushed aside Augsburg 3-1 on Friday, with Harry Kane bagging his 34th goal of the season—so yeah, they’re in a good place going into this one. The only real blow, however, is the unavailability of Jamal Musiala. He scored in that game but tore his hamstring and is now ruled out for at least three weeks. That means no first leg and no second leg either. Tough one.

As for Inter, their game plan will likely lean on their biggest strength—defense. They’ve been rock solid in Europe this season: 8 clean sheets in 10 games and only two goals conceded.

That 80% clean sheet rate is the best for any team that’s played 10 or more games in a single Champions League campaign. When you factor in the quality of opposition—Man City, Arsenal, RB Leipzig—it’s even more impressive.

Normally, when two league leaders like this go head-to-head, you expect fireworks from their attack. But one of my betting tips for today is that it ends up like that PSG vs. Liverpool tie from the last round—tight, cagey, and low scoring. Both sides know that the tiniest mistake could be the difference.

Key Stat: Bayern are unbeaten in their last 22 Champions League games at the Allianz Arena (17 wins, 5 draws)

Betting Tips:

●  Under 2.5 Total Goals @1.87

●  Double Chance: Bayern to Win or Draw @1.26

●  Inter Under 1.5 Total Goals @1.34

Barcelona vs. Borussia Dortmund

Lewandoski .jpg

This tie has some serious firepower, with 3 of the 4 UCL top scorers going head-to-head. Raphinha (11 goals, 5 assists), Serhou Guirassy (10 goals, 4 assists), and Robert Lewandowski (9 goals) will all be on show in the first leg, and let’s not forget the fearless Lamine Yamal. He’s got 3 goals and 3 assists, but his impact goes way beyond just numbers.

Barcelona have been rock solid at home in Europe this season, winning 4 out of 5 and scoring 17 goals in the process. They hosted Bayern Munich in the group stage and came out 4-1 victors, a result that announced the Hansi Flick era.

If you’re using that as a yardstick for Barcelona’s performances against German opposition, it’s easy to see why the Catalans are heavily favoured in this game. In fact, they also beat Dortmund 3-2 at the Signal Iduna Park back in December, despite Guirassy grabbing a brace, and that win stretched their unbeaten run against Dortmund in Europe to five games (3 wins, 2 draws).

On a personal note, that was Flick’s 6th straight win over Dortmund as a manager, maintaining his 100% record against them. Across those six games (with Bayern and now Barça), his teams have scored 18 goals and hit at least 3 goals in 5 of those.

Raphinha.jpg

Sure, Dortmund have pulled off big surprises in the past—just look at last season’s fairytale run to the Champions League final—but this version of them hasn’t been nearly as convincing. They’re 8th in the Bundesliga and have been wildly inconsistent. Unless something crazy happens, this should be a fairly straightforward win for Barcelona.

Key Stat: Since leaving Dortmund in 2014, Robert Lewandowski has scored 20 goals in 27 games against them.

Betting Tips:

●  Bet Builder: Barcelona To Win + Raphinha Anytime Scorer @2.50

●  Barcelona Over 2.5 Goals 2.08

●  Lewandowski Anytime Scorer @1.95

Paris Saint-Germain vs. Aston Villa

Kvara and Dembele.jpg

This might just be the most slept-on of the Champions League fixtures in this round, but I’m all in because of the drama and storylines surrounding it. First up, there’s the “revenge” angle for both Unai Emery and Marco Asensio against PSG. Emery only spent two seasons in Paris, but he won a whopping 7 trophies, including a domestic quadruple in his final year.

Still, PSG fans never truly warmed to him—mostly because he couldn’t get them past the Round of 16 of the UCL. The infamous La Remontada collapse against Barcelona didn’t help either. As for Asensio, his time at PSG was forgettable—just 7 goals in 47 games over 18 months before being sent out on loan. Now at Aston Villa, he’s been a steal, bagging 8 goals in just 11 games. Safe to say, he’ll want to show PSG pepper.

Despite having 6 games left, PSG wrapped up the Ligue 1 title over the weekend with a 1-0 win over Angers, while keeping their unbeaten league run alive. In a way, this is bad news for Villa because it means Luis Enrique’s squad can now turn their full attention to the Champions League, while Villa still have to juggle things domestically.

That said, Villa had a great weekend too. Their 2-1 win over an in-form Nottingham Forest made it 7 straight wins in all competitions and kept their Top 4 push alive. During that run, they’ve only let in 2 goals, kept 5 clean sheets, and scored 16 themselves. January signings Marcus Rashford (3 goals, 1 assist) and Asensio (also 3 goals, 1 assist) have been key to that streak.

Still, I’ve got to give PSG the edge here, especially since they’re playing at home. They’ve been on a tear since mid-December, winning 20 of their last 22 games with just one loss and one draw.

Ousmane Dembélé has shown up big this season, dropping 32 goals and 7 assists. And let’s not sleep on Désiré Doué—only 19, but already at 11 goals and 11 assists this season, with 17 of those 22 goal contributions coming in 2025. My bet of the day is for the teenage sensation to get on the scoresheet and we have the best odds for that on BetKing..

Key Stat: Aston Villa has never won a European away game against French opposition. In the past 12 months, they’ve lost at Lille (Conference League) and Monaco (Champions League).

Betting Tips:

●  Bet Builder: PSG Win or Draw + Ousmane Dembélé Anytime Scorer @2.05

●  Aston Villa Over 0.5 Goals @1.55

●  Désiré Doué Anytime Scorer @4.20

●  PSG To Qualify @1.22
