Another fun-packed weekend of European football is upon us, and we are here to preview some mouth-watering ties across the top 5 leagues, while giving out our expert football betting tips. 


**Brentford vs Liverpool** 

Brentford went into their last Premier League game against Wolves on the back of just win in their last 8 matches, a run that saw them steer dangerously close to the relegation zone. However, a straightforward 2-0 win in that fixture has now opened up a comfortable six-point gap over the bottom three, lifting the mood around the Bees and manager Thomas Frank.  

Up next is the visit of high-flying, English Premier League leaders Liverpool, certainly not the team to face when you’ve kept just one clean sheet in 14 home games this season.

They defeated Burnley 3-1 last weekend, in what was a necessary response to the 3-1 defeat to title rivals Arsenal the week before.   

The Reds won 3-0 in the reverse fixture at Anfield, and have only lost once against Brentford in 5 meetings (W3,D1), and the table-toppers will be confident of securing victory at the GTech Stadium. 

**Verdict:** Liverpool are a goal scoring machine, and 8 of their last 10 games have had over 2.5 goals scored, which makes the goals market an excellent bet.

**Burnley vs Arsenal** 

Vincent Kompany’s Burnley suffered a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend, extending their winless league streak to six matches (D2, L4). The challenges keep coming as they face another title contender, Arsenal and the task will be even harder with Kompany serving a touchline ban. 

Burnley have failed to beat the Gunners at Turf Moor in their last 8 encounters (L5, D3), and with the worst home record in the Premier League this season, (W1, D2, L9), they are unlikely to end that barren run this weekend. 

The odds are stacked firmly against Kompany’s men, and after conceding two or more goals in 9 of their 11 home games this campaign, you really fear for them against a rampant Arsenal side. 

Following a resounding 6-0 victory against West Ham on Sunday, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are a scary opponent for anyone, let alone relegation strugglers. The win marked their first away league victory by six goals since December 1935.  

Arsenal have excelled this season, winning 9 of their 10 games against teams starting the weekend 12th or lower, and on a ground where they haven’t lost a game since 1973, we fully expect them to win, and to win big. 

**Verdict:** Arsenal should have no trouble putting Burnley away, and there should be plenty of goals too. Burnley have conceded a league-high 14 first half goals at home this season, and our bet of the day is for Arsenal to score in the first half. 

Bukayo Saka is in excellent form, and we are backing him to score again, after his strike against West Ham last weekend saw the winger become the youngest Arsenal player to score 50 goals.

**Napoli vs Genoa** 

Napoli are in a tough spot at the moment, and after last weekend’s narrow loss to AC Milan, they have now failed to find the net in three of their last four games. 

 The defending Serie A champions have put on a disappointing defence of last season’s Scudetto win, and currently sit in 9th place with fading hopes of a top-six finish.  

Playing at home will certainly help boost morale, as Napoli have won three of their last four league matches at the Diego Maradona stadium. Each of those wins ended 2-1 and with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen set to play a part after returning from AFCON 2023, we expect the Neapolitans to bounce back. 

Genoa come into this clash six points behind Napoli, and the 4-1 defeat to Atalanta last weekend halted an eight-game unbeaten run (W3, D5). They managed to hold title-chasing duo Inter Milan and Juventus to 1-1 draws and showed grit and defensive solidity during that 8-game run (5 goals conceded).  

Building on their unbeaten away streak here may prove problematic though, as they have failed to defeat Napoli away from home since 2009 (D4, L9). 

**Verdict:** Napoli have struggled for consistency this season with just 3 wins in their last 10 games, but they haven’t lost at home to Genoa in 13 years. The hosts have also not lost consecutive games this season, and with Osimhen back, we are backing the defending champions to bounce back with a win.

**Manchester City vs Chelsea** 

Manchester City are firmly on the heels of league leaders Liverpool. With just 2 points separating both teams, and the luxury of a game in hand, Pep Guardiola’s men are well and truly applying the pressure.  

Their 3-1 victory over Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday was their 11th straight win, and they will be looking to make it 12 against Chelsea, on a ground where they are unbeaten in the last 22 league games (W18, D4).  

The last time both sides met, it ended 4-4 with former City boy Cole Palmer scoring a last-minute penalty to earn a draw for the Blues. The hosts are in a much better place now, although they still struggle to keep clean sheets, with just 2 in their last 10 league games. 

Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea have blown hot and cold all season, evidenced by their recent six-game form (W3, D1, L2). Notably, they conceded four goals in both losses but scored 3+ times in the three wins.  

Despite scoring 4 times in that thrilling 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, City’s impeccable home form makes that an unlikely scenario this time around.  

This has actually been a tough fixture for Chelsea in recent years, with the Blues yet to taste victory against City since that famous UEFA Champions League final triumph in 2021(D1, L6). More alarming for the Blues, they failed to score in all six defeats, but City’s defence has been shaky all season, and there could be some joy for attacking players like Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson. 

**Verdict:** Man City are in devastating form, clearly buoyed by the return of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland. The Belgian has assisted a goal in all four of Man City’s league games in 2024, and his borderline telepathic partnership with Haaland was on full display in a 2-0 win over Everton last weekend. We believe Chelsea have enough to get on the scoresheet but not enough to prevent a defeat.

New boss Inigo Perez must find a way to improve the team’s form and he must do so quickly as they haven’t won a home game since September (D5, L4), and have lost the last three at home. 

Sunday’s opponents are most certainly the last team Perez would have picked to begin his tenure. Carlo Ancelotti’s men have been on fire in the league this season, scoring a minimum of 2 goals in 16 La Liga games already.  

Los Blancos are on a roll at the moment, five points clear of Girona at the top of the La Liga table standings and in the driving seat of their Champions League last 16 tie against RB Leipzig after a 1-0 midweek win in Germany. Top scorer Jude Bellingham (20 goals) may be unavailable for this one due to injury, but regardless of who Ancelotti has picked to cover for absences, particularly in defence, they have got the job done in recent weeks, and are undefeated away from home since September (W6, D2).  

**Verdict:** Rayo have won this fixture just twice in the last 20 meetings and are on a six-game winless run, making a victory against the league leaders highly unlikely. Vinicius Jr has scored 6 goals in his last 7 games you can enjoy high odds for the Brazilian to score again.

**Luton Town vs Manchester United** 

Luton’s home stadium, Kenilworth Road, is set to host this league matchup for the first time since 1992, with the Hatters in desperate need of points to stay above the relegation zone.

Despite this, the Red Devils are riding high on confidence, having ended a 13-match winless streak on the road against top-half Premier League sides with last weekend’s 2-1 win at Aston Villa (D2, L11). 

Ten Hag’s men have now won 6 of their last 8 games across all competitions, and the goals have started to flow too, with 13 in their last 4. Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund has also found his footing with a remarkable 6 goals and 3 assists in his last 7 games in a Red Devils shirt.   

United will be eager to extend their un of consecutive away wins to 5 for the first time since October 2020, and with news that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s partial takeover has been approved, momentum at Old Trafford is at its highest since last summer.  

**Verdict:** The Red Devils are unbeaten against newly-promoted sides in their last 14 league games (W11, D3). Hojlund is in dazzling form, and no one can bet against him right now.
