Former heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are set to round off the year with an exciting doubleheader in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, each facing separate opponents on Saturday.

Since then, he has secured six consecutive victories, including a split decision win over Murat Gassiev in September, earning the WBA Inter-Continental title, and holding a record of 26 wins, 1 loss and 1 “No contest” result with 14 knockouts.  

The southpaw stance of Wallin adds an intriguing element to the matchup, considering Joshua’s past challenges against southpaws, most recently with Usyk.   

Although Wallin may lack Usyk’s speed, he brings craftiness and awkwardness to the ring, creating a challenging puzzle for any opponent.

**Deontay Wilder vs Joseph Parker**  

Deontay Wilder is renowned for his ability to end a fight with a single devastating blow, establishing himself as one of the strongest punchers in the history of heavyweight boxing.

Known for his long reach and devastating 97kg power punches, Wilder relies on sheer power rather than technical finesse, showcasing an uncanny ability to find his target, but earning less than favourable reviews for his boxing skills.   

In contrast, Parker brings a more sophisticated approach to the ring. As a former WBO titleholder from 2016 to 2018, he demonstrated his boxing skills and fight IQ.   

Despite the loss to Joshua, Parker remains a consistent presence in the heavyweight elite, securing nine wins in his last ten fights.  

While Wilder has experienced over a year of inactivity, Parker has had an active 2023, recovering from a knockout by Joe Joyce with three wins against unranked opponents. Starting the year with a decision win over Jack Massey, he followed up with back-to-back knockouts of Faiga Opelu and Simon Kean, earning him the IBF and WBO Inter-Continental titles and improving his record to 33-3 with 23 KOs.  

For Parker to upset Wilder, agility, constant movement, and effective headwork will be crucial.  However, being the smaller man, he faces challenges, giving up three inches in height to the 6’7” American and, more significantly, an eight-inch reach disadvantage.   

Parker must navigate the fight strategically, making it a boxing match rather than a brawl.  The prospect of facing Wilder poses a daunting challenge, as he will likely capitalize on any opportunity, whether it’s catching Parker coming in or delivering a spear-like strike from the outside.
