**AS Roma vs AC Milan**

Daniele De Rossi’s (W12, D3, L2) record shows how much the Italian legend has truly turned things around at Roma since taking over from Jose Mourinho.  

A 1-0 success at San Siro in the first leg means that the hosts return home with a slender advantage as they aim to win a second European trophy in two years. Their best chance of progression again here may come from their water-tight defence, which has let in just one goal in their last five matches.  

The visiting Milan fans will be hoping for a much-improved showing from their team, who were fortunate to come away with a point after a thrilling 3-3 draw against Sassuolo last weekend. Although their porous defending raised concerns, their goalscoring at least clicked into gear, which will be a huge positive heading into this second leg.  

The H2H record should actually give Milan some hope, especially as they remain unbeaten across their last four visits to this venue (W3, D1). They’ve also lost just one of their last six away European clashes to fellow Italian sides (W2, D3).  

Verdict: Milan’s record on this ground is impressive and they were on a run of 7 straight wins before last week’s loss. Still, winning against this version of Roma is something they’re yet to do and we don’t see that happening here. Our bet of the day is a full-time draw and for both teams to score.

**Atalanta vs Liverpool**

Last week’s first leg was truly unbelievable as Atalanta defied the odds to defeat English giants Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield. It was the Reds’ first home loss in 14 months, and severely damaged their hopes of winning a treble in Jurgen Klopp’s final season.   

All hope is not lost though, as they have a history of memorable European comebacks. The visitors will need to produce a performance like their last visit to Bergamo, a 5-0 win in November 2020. A result like that seems highly unlikely, especially after their Premier League aspirations took a similar blow with a shock 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend.  

Atalanta will be confident that they can progress to the semifinals due to their advantage from the first leg and the backing of a vociferous home support. The Italians have lost just one of their last 22 UEL matches (W13, D8), and their recent home record (1 defeat in the last 12) means this is an uphill task for Liverpool.  

Their domestic form has tailed off in recent weeks, and after taking an early two-goal lead at the weekend, they were pegged back by Verona to draw 2-2. Their defence can certainly be exploited but you get the sense this tie is theirs.

**Marseille vs Benfica**

Marseille’s form has taken a nosedive in recent weeks, with a five-game losing streak threatening to end their attempts to qualify for Europe next season and placing continuation in this year’s edition in jeopardy.  

The French outfit head into the second leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie 2-1 down to Benfica. If Jean-Louis Gasset’s side are looking for positives, they have had seven days to prepare for this match, thanks to not having played a Ligue 1 game at the weekend. They’re also in surprisingly good form at the Stade Vélodrome (W13, D6, L1) and have not lost at home in the UEL in over five years (W5, D3).  

That record might not bother their opponents though, given that Benfica have lost just two of their last 15 European away games, (W8, D5) a run that stretches back to November 2021. They warmed up for this clash by beating Moreirense 3-0 on Sunday, despite boss Roger Schmidt opting to rotate his squad in a bid to keep them fresh for this game.  

That victory just about keeps alive the club’s hopes of lifting the Primeira Liga title, but it is UEL glory that would really move the needle. Benfica certainly make the trip to France in good form, having lost just one of their last nine matches in all competitions (W6, D2).  

Verdict: Marseille might be terrible on the road, but their home form is impeccable, and we believe it could make all the difference here. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the tournament’s top goal scorer with 10 goals in 10 games, and you can get over 2 sure odds by backing him to score again.

**West Ham vs Bayer Leverkusen**

Last Thursday’s 2-0 first-leg defeat in Germany means West Ham have one leg out of the UEFA Europa League already unless they can produce a flawless performance in what should be a thrilling second leg.   

The Hammers overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit to win 5-1 against Freiburg, another German side, earlier in the competition but this is undoubtedly a much tougher task. The Hammers’ inconsistent form in their last nine games (W2, D3, L4) raises doubts about their chances. However, they do have plenty of experience against Bundesliga opponents this season (W3, L2).  

David Moyes will hope that playing at home provides a boost, as they have a respectable home record against German opposition (W4, L2). Their record on the continent is also quite impressive with 14 wins from their last 17 European home games (D1, L2).   

If any side can put a dent in that record, it’s Bayer Leverkusen, who were crowned Bundesliga champions for the first time ever, after a 5-0 win over Werder Bremen last weekend. That win made it 43 games without defeat and the prospect of an unbeaten treble is on the cards. Xabi Alonso’s men will also take extra confidence from the fact that they have progressed in 13 of 14 UEFA ties in which they entered the away second leg with an advantage.   

They’re in excellent scoring form and with Victor Boniface back among the goals, they will be hard to stop. 

Verdict: West Ham will be hard to beat at home, but Leverkusen just need to avoid defeat to go through and our bet prediction is for both teams to score and the visitors to avoid defeat.

**Lille vs Aston Villa**

Lille faced a tough battle in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final against Aston Villa, trailing 2-0 with less than an hour played. A late consolation goal from defender Badfode Diakite minimized the damage, but their record against English teams (D1, L7) makes a comeback even more challenging.  

Despite their wretched record against English opposition, there is evidence suggesting that Paulo Fonseca’s team possess the potential to buck this trend, having been unbeaten in seven games before their first-leg defeat (W4, D3). They also enjoyed a weekend of rest and will be fresher than their opponents.  

Aston Villa, on the other hand, were in action over the weekend in a surprise 2-0 win away at Arsenal. That victory extended Villa’s record to just two defeats in 12 competitive matches (W7, D3) as their momentum continues to build.  

Furthermore, the Villans can be confident of reaching the last four as Unai Emery boasts an exceptional record in European competitions - especially at this stage. The Spaniard has won his last seven quarterfinals in UEFA club competition.

**Fenerbahçe vs Olympiacos**

Fenerbahce find themselves trailing 3-2 against Olympiacos in their UEFA Conference League quarter-final. However, they can take solace in the fact that they roared back and almost erased a 3-0 deficit.   

With a legitimate chance to reach a European semi-final for the first time in 11 years within reach, the Turkish giants will be buoyed by their strong home record in European competitions (W11, D1, L1). Manager, İsmail Kartal will need to improve his defence as they haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last seven home games, conceding the opener five times in that period. However, Fenerbahce have the attacking firepower to deal with any shortcomings at the back, having scored at least twice in seven of their last nine home games.   

Despite having to fend off Fenerbahçe’s late fightback, Olympiacos remain in the driver’s seat in their first European quarter-final since 1999. They’ve never gone beyond this stage but a very strong record against Turkish opposition, (D2, L3) should inspire the Greek giants as they aim to write a new chapter in the club’s history.  

Another fast start could help them on their way, and there is precedence after scoring inside the opening 30 minutes in seven of their last eight matches. 
 
Verdict: This is a tie that almost certainly promises goals at both ends. None of the last 20 matches featuring either of these teams ended in a draw and Our bet prediction for this is both teams to score, and any team to win.

**Fiorentina vs Viktoria Plzen**

Fiorentina’s 1-1 draw with Genoa in the Serie A on Monday puts their European qualification hopes for next season in jeopardy. A goalless first leg against Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Europa Conference League quarterfinals means that they now face added pressure to progress in that competition or miss out on Europe entirely next season.  

Fiorentina’s recent run of form (D4, L2) makes for grim reading, but they remain unbeaten in 10 UECL matches (W5, D5), offering some positives. On the other hand, Plzen presents a formidable challenge, having kept clean sheets in seven straight UECL matches and winning 12 of their last 14 games (D2).   

Their solid defence was evident in their recent 1-0 victory over Slavia Prague, marking their fourth consecutive clean sheet across all competitions.  

Plzen’s impressive record extends to the group stages, where they emerged with a perfect winning record (W6) while conceding just once. Their proficiency in penalty shootouts (W2) adds another threat, and Fiorentina will have to be at their absolute best to win this one.
