**Liverpool vs Manchester City** 

A highly anticipated showdown in the Premier League is in store this weekend, as Liverpool host Manchester City at Anfield, with significant implications for the EPL title race. 

The Reds secured a dramatic 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest last weekend, before completely eviscerating Sparta Prague in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday Night, running riot in a 5-1 win. Now Jurgen Klopp shifts his focus to the title race, with his biggest rival Pep Guardiola waiting in line.  

This fixture has become English football’s biggest game in recent years, with both sides splitting the last 6 Premier League titles (5-1 in favour of Man City) and offering up some of the most keenly contested title races in PL history.  

The hosts are top of the league with 63 points after 27 games, one point clear of City in second, and Klopp will be desperate to at least maintain that distance by the final whistle. 

The Reds will feel quietly confident of getting a result against Pep’s men at Anfield thanks to a superior H2H record when playing at home (W6, D3, L1). They haven’t lost to an English side at Anfield since October 2022, a staggering 17 months undefeated in front of home support must fill any team with confidence.  

Injuries and fitness issues will still cause some concern for Klopp, but Darwin Nunez (3 goals in his last 3 games) is back from a knock. Star player, Mohamed Salah also returned from the injury he picked up at AFCON 2023 in Thursday night’s Europa League win against Sparta Prague.  

Manchester City beating this Liverpool team at Anfield could be one of Guardiola’s biggest wins during his time in England. For context, City have only won twice at Anfield in the Premier League era; most recently a 4-1 win in 2021. Anfield has not been kind to Pep and his men, but if there’s one team you should never bet against, it’s this City team. The champions are on a 20-game unbeaten run (W18, D2), and have scored 12 goals in their last 3 games. Erling Haaland has 8 goals in his last 5 appearances, and this is the time of the season when City typically go on one of those endless winning runs to close things out.  

**Key stat -** Manchester City midfielder Rodri is on an incredible winning streak of 60 games. Will that impact the result here? 

**Verdict:** We don’t think so. You’re probably tired of hearing this by now, but Liverpool just don’t lose at Anfield and Klopp’s final season has all the makings of a historic last dance. That being said, the real value is in the goals market, and our bet of the day is over 2.5 goals, and goals for Haaland (18G) and Salah (15G).

**Manchester United vs Everton** 

Manchester United lost 3-1 to “noisy neighbours” Manchester City last weekend, a result that left the Red Devils 11 points off the top four and in need of a dramatic turnaround if they’re to play Champions League football next season. 

With Aston Villa and Tottenham, their rivals for a top four slot, facing off this weekend, United can close the gap with a win against Everton at Old Trafford. Under Ten Hag, the Red Devils have enjoyed four consecutive victories against Everton, scoring 2+ goals each time, and that should provide hope for a return to winning ways after last week’s embarrassing capitulation. With rumours of the club’s hierarchy eyeing Inter boss Simeone Inzaghi, Ten Hag must know that patience is running thin and a defeat at home to Everton would be their 12th in the league this season, something that has happened just twice in Premier League history.  

Sean Dyche received a bit of relief last week as the Premier League reduced Everton’s points deduction from 10 to 6 points. However, his team continued to struggle as they lost 3-1 to West Ham, squandering a lead for the second consecutive week. That result means the Toffees have now failed to win any of their last ten league matches (D5, L5), leaving his men just 5 points out of the drop zone. 

**Key stat:** 12 of the last 13 meetings between both sides have witnessed 2 or more goals. 

**Verdict:** This season, only the bottom-two sides have scored fewer than the Toffees’ 29, and with no wins in their last 6 games on the road, our bet of the day is for Man United to bounce back with a win.

**Arsenal vs Brentford**  

Arsenal made history last weekend, becoming the first side in English top-flight history to win three successive away games by five or more goals thanks to a 6-0 thumping of Sheffield United. This impressive performance not only extended Arsenal’s domestic winning streak to seven games but also solidified their position in the three-team title race alongside Manchester City and Liverpool. 

With just two points separating the top three ahead of kick-off, and with the other two sides facing one another this weekend, the Gunners cannot afford to lose ground against Brentford. Arteta’s men are certainly not short on confidence after scoring 21 goals in their last 4 league matches, and with 7 wins in their last 10 games against Brentford (D2, L1), you would be a brave man to bet against them.  

Despite a promising start to the season, Brentford have suffered a decline over the past few months and are now just 6 points clear of the relegation zone. After winning just once in their last 7 games (D1, L5) Thomas Frank is certainly beginning to feel the pressure. Their biggest issue this season has been an inability to turn leads into victories, after squandering yet another lead in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea last weekend, the Bees have now dropped a league-high 28 points from winning positions.  

**Key stat:** Bukayo Saka has 7 goals in his last 7 appearances for Arsenal. 

**Verdict:** Arsenal have not lost at home to Brentford since 1938, and with the Gunners in red-hot form, our bet prediction is another comfortable win.

**Chelsea vs Newcastle** 

Chelsea came from behind to draw 2-2 at Brentford last weekend and as a result, are mired in mid-table, 6 points off the European spots. There are rumours that the Chelsea owners are less than satisfied with the job Mauricio Pochettino has done at the helm, and a top-six finish may be the only way he can keep his job. The Blues have won just 3 of their last 9 games, including the Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool, and they must start to pick up wins to avoid another season outside Europe. They welcome Newcastle to Stamford Bridge on Monday night hoping to return to winning ways against a team they have defeated just once in the last 5 attempts (L2, D2).  

Newcastle have found some form recently with 5 wins in the last 8 matches (W5, D2, L1), and as key players return to full fitness, the aim on Tyneside is to finish the season in one of the European spots.  Eddie Howe’s men are currently 8th with 40 points – just 4 points off Manchester United in 6th, and after that horrible spell last December where they won 1 in 6 games, things are finally looking up for the Toon. They enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win over Wolves last weekend and will fancy their chances against an inconsistent Chelsea side. 

**Verdict:** Newcastle are looking better with each passing week, thanks in large part to the return of key players, and while their recent record against Chelsea is quite good, the Blues have been impressive at Stamford Bridge.  

This one is particularly tough to call, but 8 of the last 10 games at Stamford Bridge have featured 2 or more goals and our football prediction is for that trend to continue.  

● Bet on Newcastle to score over 0.5 goals  

**Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo** 

La Liga leaders Real Madrid will be aiming to strengthen their grip on top spot and keep second-placed Girona at bay when they welcome Celta Vigo to the Bernabeu. Carlo Ancelotti’s men come into this game on the back of consecutive draws (for the first time this season), and a particularly average performance in the 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig in midweek. It has been a challenging week for Los Blancos as they lost their appeal to overturn Jude Bellingham’s red card in the 2-2 draw with Valencia. The La Liga top scorer will now be sidelined for two league games.  

Additionally, manager Carlo Ancelotti is facing legal issues, with Spanish prosecutors accusing him of tax fraud during his initial tenure in charge. Despite these setbacks, they are still strong favourites for this match, particularly at home, where they remain undefeated since the beginning of the campaign (W16, D3). Ancelotti’s men will feel very confident going into this clash, especially as an offensive force (they rank second for goals scored in the league (56) and first for shots per game 15.6).  

H2H between the two in recent times is skewed in Madrid’s favour with the hosts winning 10 of the last 11 meetings.  

As for Celta, their run of 2 wins in the last 8 games has them in 17th, just 5 points clear of the relegation zone. Last weekend’s 1-0 win over Almeria was their first in 5 games, and while that was certainly a morale-boosting win, an upset here is highly unlikely. 

**Key Stat -** Real Madrid have scored 2+ goals in 9 of their last 10 home games against Celta. 

**Verdict:** Real Madrid are historically great in this fixture, winning the last 7 in a row, and the gulf in quality between the two teams is insurmountable. After consecutive draws, our bet of the day is for the league leaders to return to winning ways.

**Aston Villa vs Tottenham** 

Fourth takes on fifth in the Premier League this weekend as Aston Villa and Tottenham face off at Villa Park in the race for Champions League qualification next season. 

The hosts come into this clash in high spirits, riding a 4-game unbeaten streak, including three consecutive wins in the league. Unai Emery’s men performed impressively in the UEFA Conference League stalemate against Ajax on Thursday night and will be full of confidence against Spurs. Last weekend’s 3-2 victory at Luton solidified their fourth position in the table, maintaining a five-point lead over fifth-placed Tottenham. A win for Villa on Sunday will extend the gap to eight points with only 10 matches remaining, positioning themselves favorably for their first Champions League campaign since 1983. 

The Villans have been outstanding at home this season, winning 10 out of 13 league matches at Villa Park with only the top three title contenders earning more points on home turf.  

Spurs head into this clash after last weekend’s 3-1 comeback win over Crystal Palace. Ange Postecoglou’s men have now lost just one of their last 7 league games (W4, D2). A victory for Spurs at Villa Park on Sunday would reduce the gap to just two points. With a game in hand — a huge clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, it could put them in pole position for a fourth-place finish and a spot in the next season’s Champions League. 

**Key stat -** Tottenham Hotspur have conceded 2 or more goals in 7 of their last 10 away matches. 

**Verdict:** Emery’s men have won the last three encounters against Tottenham, and their outstanding record at Villa Park adds to the challenge for Spurs, who have one away win in their last six games. Taking all that into account, our bet prediction for this clash is an Aston Villa win.
