Ahead of an action packed weekend, which features Ange Postecoglou’s showdown with Liverpool and Gennaro Gattuso’s debut as Marseille’s manager, here’s our preview of the upcoming events. 
 

**Barcelona vs. Sevilla** 

Barcelona missed the chance to go top of La Liga following a midweek draw against Mallorca. Mallorca took the lead twice, and Barcelona had to rally from behind on both occasions. At the end of the day, a draw seemed like a fair result for both sides. Sevilla delivered a convincing 5-1 victory over Almeria on Tuesday. After their lacklustre start to the league campaign, which saw three consecutive defeats, they have since accumulated seven points in their last three matches and now occupy the 12th position in the standings. 

Despite the fine displays by José Luis Mendilibar’s men in the past few games, they will have to be almost perfect to get a result against Barcelona, especially as they’re on the road. Last season, Xavi’s men had a pair of 3-0 wins against them and dominated both games. In fact, the Catalans have registered three 3-0 wins over Sevilla in their last 5 meetings and their unbeaten run against the Europa League holders stretches back to 2021 (5 wins and a draw in 6 games).  

Besides their opening game of the season in which they had a goalless draw at Getafe, Barcelona has been a free scoring side. In the 7 games since then, they’ve netted an impressive 23 goals - an average of 3.3 goals scored per game. To be fair, they’ve had minor defensive challenges of their own as they’ve conceded 8 goals in that 7 game stretch. But they’ve been able to score their way out of problems. Well, except on Tuesday against Mallorca. With this in mind, one of our betting tips today is for the game to produce **over 2.5 goals** . Xavi will be without a couple of key midfielders for this game with both Frenkie de Jong and Pedri set to be missing. On the other hand, Jose Luis Mendilibar is dealing with several injury issues, particularly on the defensive front, with players like Marcos Acuna, Marcao, and Tanguy Nianzou all sidelined due to injuries. **Tottenham Hotspur vs. Liverpool** 

Ange Postecoglou’s influence on Spurs has been transformative, rejuvenating the team. Their recent performance at Arsenal, where they twice rallied from behind to secure a point, showcased their resilience. Liverpool is enjoying a strong start to the season, and sit in 2nd position in the league. After a draw with Chelsea in the opening weekend, they have embarked on an impressive streak of 5 consecutive league victories (and 7 in all competitions). This resurgence follows a disappointing 2022/23 campaign by their usual high standards, and they appear to have regained their top form, scoring 15 goals in the league while conceding just 5. Jürgen Klopp’s team is currently riding a remarkable 17-game unbeaten run in the league, comprising 12 wins and 5 draws, which stretches back to last season. This unbeaten streak is significantly longer than the next best, with both Arsenal and Spurs at 7 games each. Since their 4-1 defeat to Manchester City in April, only Pep Guardiola has accrued more league points than Jürgen Klopp, with Klopp amassing 41 points compared to Guardiola’s 43 during that time frame. 
 
When these two teams face off, one thing we can reliably expect is goals. Liverpool has found the back of the net in each of their last 15 league meetings with Spurs, while Spurs themselves have scored in 13 of those 15 encounters. Ange Postecoglou is also the fourth manager in EPL history to see his side score at least twice in each of the first 6 games of the competition after Carlo Ancelotti (Chelsea), Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) and Craig Shakespeare (Leicester City). **AC Milan vs. SS Lazio** 

Milan’s 3-1 win over Cagliari on Wednesday saw them close the gap on neighbours, Inter as they now sit 2nd on the table, just behind on goal difference. Lazio too are coming off a win. Second-half goals from Matias Vecino and Mattia Zaccagni gave them all three points against Torino as they moved from 16th to 12th. It was a memorable game for Matias Vecino, as his opening goal extended his streak of scoring at least once in each of his last 11 Serie A seasons. 

However, Lazio has encountered challenges since the departure of their highly influential midfielder, Sergej Milinković-Savić. Their recent additions, including Matteo Guendouzi, Nicolo Rovella, and Daichi Kamada, have struggled to replicate the goal-scoring threat of their predecessor and, as a result, they have faced difficulties in breaking down their opponents. Against a Milan side with a better midfield, this is a worry.  

In their recent encounters, the last 11 meetings between these two sides have consistently produced a winner, making the **1-2 Double Chance** market quite appealing. Milan has emerged victorious in 7 of these games, while Lazio has secured 4 wins. Despite Serie A’s general reputation for featuring relatively few goals, this fixture has consistently defied that stereotype. **RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich**

Now, RB Leipzig has the rare opportunity to become only the second team in this century to defeat Bayern Munich three times in the same calendar year. 

Since their failure to score against RB Leipzig in the Supercup, Bayern Munich has embarked on a ruthless scoring spree, scoring 26 goals in just 7 games, averaging 3.7 goals per game. Harry Kane has played a pivotal role in this run, contributing 8 goals and 4 assists, and he’ll be eager to make amends against the team that spoiled his debut. 

Another intriguing player to watch is the relatively unnoticed 18-year-old French talent, Mathys Tel, who has made a brilliant start to the season. Despite starting only one of the 7 games, he has scored 5 goals and provide an assist. Tel has the potential to impact the outcome of the game even coming off the bench, making him a player worth keeping an eye on in this matchup. 

RB Leipzig have started the season brilliantly despite an opening day loss to Bayer Leverkusen. Though this is just Matchday 6, they have faced two different table-toppers this season and have claimed victory in both games - a 5-1 win over Stuttgart, and a 3-0 win over Union Berlin. They’ll be aiming to make it 3 in 3 as they face Bayern who are currently first on goal difference.   

RB Leipzig’s recent league form has been outstanding, with 9 wins in their last 10 games. This season, they have been averaging an impressive 2.88 goals per game. While they have a challenging Champions League match against Manchester City on the horizon, there’s still a good chance they will continue to produce goals, even if their focus may be divided.

**Monaco vs. Marseille** 

If you were to search for the term **"dumpster fire,"** you might very well find the Marseille logo alongside it, but you don’t have to take my word for it. Over the past five years, the club has seen five different managers come and go, and what’s rather peculiar is that all five of them resigned rather than face dismissal. This unusual trend underscores the influence wielded by the Marseille ultra group, who have effectively, and at times aggressively, pushed managers out of their roles at the slightest hint of a poor run. Monaco recently surrendered their position at the top of Ligue 1 following a defeat to Nice, and it was a challenging day for new signing Folarin Balogun, who endured a forgettable outing by missing two penalties in the game. The match was ultimately decided by Jeremie Boga’s 91st-minute goal, securing the win for Nice. Monaco now seeks to return to their winning ways as they face a Marseille team experiencing turmoil. 

Monaco boasts some notable contributors this season, upon whom they will rely. Wissam Ben Yedder leads the club with 4 league goals, while Takumi Minamino has recorded 3 goals and 3 assists. **Atalanta vs. Juventus** 

After a humiliating 4-2 defeat to Sassuolo over the weekend, Juventus returned to the winning column on Tuesday with a 1-0 victory over Lecce, courtesy of a 57th-minute goal from Arkadiusz Milik. Their next challenge takes them to face Atalanta, a team that has won their last three games in all competitions without conceding a single goal.
