Breaking Barriers, Building Courts: BetKing Champions Accessibility in Sports

At KingMakers, we believe access to sports is a right not a privilege. Regardless of ability or circumstance, every athlete deserves the opportunity to compete, grow, and shine. That’s why we’re proud to be at the forefront of driving inclusion in Nigeria’s sporting landscape through initiatives like the BetKing 3×3 National Wheelchair Basketball Championship.
Held recently at the Indoor Sports Hall in Abeokuta, this year’s championship brought together para-athletes from across the country, united by skill, grit, and an unshakable will to win.
At the heart of the action was Team Taraba, who dominated both the men’s and women’s categories with stellar performances that left the crowd in awe. Oyo and Delta followed in the men’s division, while Delta and Lagos clinched podium finishes on the women’s side. In the Mixed Doubles, Lagos upset Taraba’s streak to secure gold, with Oyo taking third.
“We are proud to support para-athletes who inspire us every day,” said Gossy Ukanwoke, Managing Director of BetKing. “Sports should be inclusive. Our goal is to ensure no athlete is left behind regardless of their physical ability.”
With participation from teams across all geopolitical zones, the tournament wasn’t just a competition, it was a celebration of resilience, talent, and true sportsmanship. It also reinforced BetKing’s unwavering CSR commitment to championing underserved communities and inclusive sports development.
And we’re just getting started.
“We’ll be back supporting para-athletes at the National Sports Festival later this year,” Gossy added. “Plus, we just unveiled the KingMakers Sports Complex in Ifako-Ijaiye, a world-class facility built to empower communities and fuel grassroots talent.”
